Zømaraakztra, the One with no Forgiveness

Very fast excercise from my artschool times, actually not so fast, but we had to create a character concept within the day, and then we had to refine it with further studies and everything in the following week. Since it had to be fast, I never thought of a story, nor a role... he was simply cool to me, so that's it, take it or leave it.

*EDIT*

After creating Sister L. Catherine, i finally found this guy a name and a purpose.

He is a demon, and of the worst species... The Ultimate Corrupter, the Enslaver of Will, the Boundless Pain, are just a few of his pseudonyms. Many were the ones that tried to face him, including the Guardians of the Sacred Order, and their essence is now part of his demonic power, burning inside of him in eternal fire.
Zømaraakztra knows no mercy, no regret, no love, no fear... no forgiveness. They all mean naught to him.

A brief look at the overall process, including some color palettes and early stages.

Here some designs for the head/mask/helmet/whatever.

Since I first came up with this design, I always worried more for the front look... and in fact doing the back had been a real pain, but I managed to solve the problems it came with... a real anatomy puzzle.

After the anatomy of this big beast was solved, it was time for a few poses studies to see those big muscles in motion.

After all the studies, was about time to deliver the final piece, so I started sketching around but maybe a simpler pose was better, so this one got discarded along with some other ones.

I started this new sketch and this time I liked it better, so I kept it. Added a tone to the background too.

Stroke after stroke I added some layers of shadows and lighting, keeping in mind that the main lightsources were, of course, his head and hands.

Just color and some other finer details and this beast is ready to... do stuff, I think.
